New Job Trainees in the Philippines

Our training participants could not be more different, yet they all have the same goal: they want to find a job after the apprenticeship to the industrial sewer with their acquired knowledge.

Update September 2018
3 months after graduating, we contacted the three sponsored students. Jervie works in a computer store, where he earns more than minimum wage. But what’s even better for him: with the certificate he got, he could apply to agencies for working abroad. He hopes to get a positive reply soon. Jasmin Melchor is still looking for a job. As she only wants to work part-time, the job hunt proves especially hard. Lenny enjoyed sewing so much that she opened her own store right away. She already earns more than 8 € per week. Proudly she sent us a selfie to show her products.

About our trainees

Jervie Gadin is 21 years old and lives in the Philippine municipality of Subic in the province of Zambales. The young man not only wanted to learn the correct measurement of fabrics and the production of clothes, but also to perfect the care and handling of the machine. His greatest motivation was his family, which inhabits a small two-room apartment. He had a lot of fun and joy in training and now wants to find a job after graduation to be able to care of his family.

Jasmin Melchor is another participant in our training program. She is 21 years old as well and currently lives in Barretto, Olongapo. As a single mother, she lives together with her child in a two-room apartment for rent. In the training, the young mother not only has to learn how to sew and to gain the necessary knowledge for this, but above all to find a safe place to work as a seamstress.

The oldest of the three participants is Leny Semilla. The 46-year-old mother of five children lives together with her husband, her children and some relatives in a house in Olongapo city. Her husband currently works as a taxi driver and takes care of the family. Leny took part in our training program because she wanted to improve and expand her sewing skills. She also wants to find a job first after training. For the distant future, however, her plan is to establish her own sewing business and thus to support your husband financially.

Our training participants completed the training program with great success and went, like most of our graduates, with a lot of diligence and dedication to the training. Therefore, we are always proud to be able to support such motivated people in their projects.
