Makenun and her husband do their best to take care of their two children. As everyone who was affected by the earthquake on the Indonesian island of Lombok, the struggle to earn a living has gotten even harder than before. Makenun earns her living by sewing and tailoring.
Her husband’s a taxi driver and heavily dependent on customers. Given this reason he isn’t able to provide a stable income. Due to not earning enough in the recent years Makenun has also started to sell cakes and sweets made by a neighbour.
Makenun needed new materials and devices as orders increased. The loan from Global Micro Initiative of IDR 2.000.000 (about € 124) has helped her to deal with the sudden increase in demand. As a result, Makenun is now able to do follow her passion for sewing and tailoring.
